Services

EPL has formed a strategic alliance with the Clinical Pathology Laboratory at HaskellSM Laboratory for Health and Environmental Services, Newark Delaware.  This alliance will allow EPL to provide its clients with technical and professional expertise in all areas of clinical pathology.  The Haskell Clinical Pathology Laboratory services include both laboratory testing and consulting services.

Results of clinical pathology analyses can be provided electronically in spreadsheet format or as report-ready tables and appendices, with or without statistical analyses.  Haskell will provide QA-audited data upon request.

Facilities and Equipment

The Clinical Pathology Laboratory at Haskell is a fully GLP-compliant laboratory.  It consists of a 1040 square foot facility with state-of-the-art clinical pathology equipment.  Samples are bar-coded (labels provided on request), ensuring positive sample identification. The laboratory uses the following diagnostic instruments:

  • Bayer ADVIA 120 Hematology Analyzer:  Method: Flow cytometer dedicated to multi-species hematologic analysis 
  • Sysmex CA-1000 Coagulation Analyzer: Method: Light scatter detection
  • Hitachi 717 Chemistry Analyzer & Olympus AU640 Chemistry Analyzer: Method: Spectrophotometry
  • Bayer Clinitek Atlas Urine Analyzer: Method:  Fiber optic detection; specific gravity by refractive index           
  • Advanced 3900 Osmometer:
  • Method: Freezing point depression
  • Nikon BH2 Microscopes
  • Beckman Coulter EPICS XL Flow Cytometer
  • Radiometer OSM3 Hemoximeter: Method: Absorbance (multi-species application)

People

Haskell's clinical pathologist is Nancy Everds, DVM.  She earned her DVM from the University of Illinois in 1986, and trained in clinical pathology at Purdue University. 

Dr. Everds has more than 10 years of experience in toxicologic clinical pathology at both pharmaceutical and industrial companies.  She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.    

Three ASCP-certified Medical Technologists conduct clinical pathology testing.  The medical technologists have extensive laboratory experience, much of which has been in GLP-compliant laboratories.  The laboratory is supervised by Denise Hoban, BA, MLT (ASCP).
