Stereology transforms two-dimensional histological sections into accurate, unbiased three-dimensional data. At Experimental Pathology Laboratories (EPL), our experienced team applies validated stereological methods to answer complex research questions with confidence and precision.

Stereology is the gold standard for quantitative assessment of biological structures in three dimensions. The sterological analysis of carefully prepared tissue sections allows us to determine total cell count, cell density, tissue volume, cell size, and the length or surface area of intricate structures such as nerve processes or blood vessels. These methods provide results that are unbiased, reproducible, and efficient, making them indispensable for preclinical and research studies where accuracy is critical.

A cornerstone of modern stereology is systematic random sampling (SRS), an approach that combines random selection of the starting measurement site with regular spacing for all subsequent sampling.
