Position Summary:

EPL is looking for a LIMS and Validation Specialist in our Sterling, VA office. The incumbent will report to the IT Director and will be responsible for maintaining the Pristima LIMS system. The incumbent will work closely with IT and QA on validation activities and provide project support and training on various technology development projects from planning to implementation. They will also work closely with the IT, QA, and Project teams to provide feedback regarding the functionality of new and existing applications. Additionally, this role involves collaboration with responsible departments on existing or new SOPs for histopathology systems, as well as user training, documentation, and support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Pathology Support Unit to establish best practices regarding the operation of the LIMS system. Conduct user training and documentation as appropriate.
  • Evaluate updates to the LIMS and assist with change control and other risk-based compliance activities that maintain the validated state of the system
  • Maintain close communication with validation team members to keep apprised of computerized system needs, impacts on computer validation, project validation status, and other relevant issues
  • Assist validation team with establishing system requirements, performing risk assessments, and with developing and performing test scripts
  • Work closely with the IT, QA, and Project teams to provide feedback regarding the functionality of new and existing applications
  • Collaborate with responsible departments on existing or new SOPs for histopathology systems
  • Provide guidance on system issues that affect the integrity of the data from the system
  • Assess histopathology system and laboratory workflow for potential process improvements involving LIMS integration
  • Point of contact for users experiencing issues within histopathology systems. Responsible for resolving issues or escalating them to the software vendor, as appropriate

Position Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in biology or related biological sciences plus 3-5 years of relevant experience in a biological sciences laboratory
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with a major LIMS
  • Good working knowledge regarding GLP Validation of computer systems in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Possess a basic knowledge of biological terminology and a familiarity with histopathology terminology
  • Must be able to work independently under the direction of senior technical personnel
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels
  • Experience with validating and qualifying various software and IT systems utilized in the GLP environment
  • Strong attention to detail, technical writing, and communication skills

EPL is looking for a Technician to join the Repository Team in our Durham, NC office. As a Technician, you will join a work environment that encourages teamwork, quality, and offers opportunities for personal growth. The Technician provides necessary technical support to clients by conducting inventory of clinical specimens, organizing, and maintaining archival specimens and data, retrieving specimens to fulfill requests, and becoming familiar with database searches.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inventory, inspect, verify, and assemble clinical specimens, data (hard copy, electronic or microfiche) in a systematic and orderly fashion
  • Verify the quality and completeness of specimens and data to ensure specifications are met for long term storage
  • File and retrieve information
  • Retrieve data or specimens for client requests
  • Maintain work area to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly facility
  • Occasional courier duties including pick-up or delivery of biological specimens, data, correspondence, mail, and supplies to clients
  • Lift and transport incoming and outgoing materials using a company vehicle
  • Become familiar with workflows and database searches

Frozen Tissue Bank and Repository Responsibilities:

  • Effectively use the Environmental Monitoring System and perform on-call duties with supervision
  • Complete daily checks of all freezers and supportive equipment and inform Supervisor of performance issues
  • Maintain laboratory by following daily cleaning procedures.
  • Assist with packaging shipments under direction of DOT/IATA certified peer
  • Always ensure sample integrity
  • Cold chain operations using dry-ice ice chests and cryo-carts

Position Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in a Life Science or High School Graduate or equivalent plus 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to pay close attention to details
  • Understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Work effectively alone or as a member of a team
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word mainly) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to adapt to changing procedures, priorities, and tasks
  • Valid NC Driver’s License and a good driving record
  • Basic database knowledge is helpful
  • Basic knowledge of scientific, histologic, and medical terminology
  • Previous histology courses are helpful
  • Experience with frozen human/animal tissues is helpful within the Repository
  • Able to work outside regular office hours, on-call, on weekends and holidays when necessary

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist to join our team in the Raleigh/Durham area.  EPL provides pathology services to clients developing life saving therapies and establishing important environmental regulations. Come be part of a team making a difference. 

Duties will include:

  • Work closely with clients to perform the microscopic evaluation and interpretation of tissue sections and integrate data from necropsy, organ weights, and clinical pathology
  • Communicate the significance of pathologic findings to study directors, clients and others by authoring pathology reports that are comprehensive, integrative, and timely
  • Support contract work at the National Toxicology Program and the National Institute of Environmental Studies by performing quality assessment of important regulatory toxicology studies
  • Promote your professional career and EPL through participation in conferences, performing speaking engagements, and publication of scientific work

Position Requirements:

  • DVM/VMD degree or equivalent.
  • Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists
