PRESIDENT ACLAIRO, SENIOR CONSULTANT, SENIOR PATHOLOGIST

Heath C. Thomas received his D.V.M. degree from North Carolina State University, graduate pathology training, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Pathology from the University of California at Davis.  He is certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in anatomical pathology.  Currently, Heath serves as President, Senior Consultant, and Senior Pathologist for Aclairo Pharmaceutical Development Group Inc, an Experimental Pathology Laboratories. Inc. (EPL) company.  Before his position with Aclairo, he was Manager and Senior Pathologist at EPL. Before joining EPL, he was Vice President and Head of Safety Assessment at GlaxoSmithKline (G.S.K.), Head of Pathology at G.S.K., Head of Investigative Pathology, and Chair of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at G.S.K. He has served as a study pathologist and drug development project team member throughout his professional career, including G.S.K., DuPont Pharma, and SmithKline Beecham. Heath is active in professional organizations, including A.C.V.P., serving on numerous committees, and serving as Associate Editor of the journal Veterinary Pathology from 2003 to 2008. He is active in the Society of Toxicologic Pathology and serves on several committees, including Scientific and Regulatory Policy. Heath is involved in the Society of Toxicology and served as President of the Toxicologic and Exploratory Pathology Specialty Section. Heath is highly experienced in the industry and is an internationally recognized expert in cardiovascular system pathology.  He has mentored numerous Ph.D. level drug development scientists and authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications.
